There wre 16 of us at the 24th May meeting, in the Portland College cafe, including a new member with his ecellent first micro layout in 009. Photos of models brought along are below, as usual.
We sucessfully held the "Inaugural Meeting" to adopt the draft constitution and managed to elect a proper committee as part of the social meeting. More details of your new committee are here. Thankyou to all who made it to the meeting to help us take this important step towards using electronic banking as part of the next Narrow Gauge Now open day on the 25th October 2025.
Ed (a new member) showed us his first foray into 009 modelling. This is his mini layout called "Llabonk" with a Narrow Minded Rly Hunslet kit on a Kato chassis running round on it. Everyone agreed that is is a very attractive display layout.
This is the rear view of Ed's mini layout showing the simple control mechanism comprising a rechargable battery (a battery mobile phone recharger) powering a Kato controller.
Charlie continued his apparent obsession with big modern narrow gauge stock with these two large Knitewing freelance industrial Diema style diesels on different N gauge chassis, both with minor adaptations. To accompany them are two adaptions of old Peco Ro-Railer wagons suitably narrowed. Look out for a future article by Charlie in the 009 News, detailing the extensive repairs to the bogie assembly on one of the deisel chassis and refitting new gearing etc.
Alan brought along his latest micro layout in an M&S wine bottle box, inspired by another mini shunting puzzle layout in N gauge. There are strategically placed magnets to uncouple the stock while shunting. This promises hours of fun. The red loco is a 3d print of a forestry i/c loco on a Kato bo-bo chassis.
This is the rear view of Alan's micro layout, showing the basic fiddle yard and the battery powering a handmade track controller made from parts sourced on the internet.
Alan also put up his test track and is offering several locos for sale, including these.
