We had a very warm May meeting at the Cafe at Portland College, and we had our first Annual General Meeting since we became a constitution based group. More details of the AGM can be found here. Suffice to say that we got it done in less than half an hour and the committee is healthier with two more members! And one intrepid member trekked all the way from Porthmadog to be there.
Several issues were raised at the AGM, including Andrew Mott appealing for members to take flyers for NGN2026 to any relevant show or railway interest site, and for any specialist Narrow Gauge Modelling retailers who may be interested in coming to the show to be referred to him at andrewmott575@gmail.com. Charlie Forbes will be co-ordinating the stewards for the show and would like everyone interested to contact him by email at charlie4472@hotmail.com.
There was modelling to be seen as well, including a rare Emmett booklet from 1951 that provides all the parts to cut out for a cardboard model Emmet coach, a self assembled DC 009 track controller and further progress on Hugh's excellent members competition challenge layout. You too can enter something for the challenge - more details here.
an was ready to help diagnose a fault on a members loco
Hugh showed off progress on his Members competition entry, including the fiddle stick (right)
All the track is working now, as Hugh demonstrated.
Dave brought along the full consist for an American Radar Bomb Scoring Train from the Cold War! This is the front of the train.
And this is the rear of the train. All to 00 scale standard gauge.
The rolling stock are Bradley’s latest aquisitions, pulled by a loco he obtained from the 009 Society's second hand service.
Dave also bought a load of plans he has accumulated over the years, free to any modeller who is interested.
Micheal has hand assembled this very simple and very cheap DC battery controller for 009 from parts supplied from internet by Ed. This is the view inside the box.
This is the view with the lid on, showing (from L to R) the reversing switch, the speed knob, and the on/off switch. Ed can help anyone get the parts to make their own.
Andrew bought along this very rare Emmet coach card kit booklet from 1951 - he is only borrowing it and he’s going to copy it and then make one up to go with his other Emmet locos in 009. Two of the pages are shown Right.
Ian has these self printed cauldron wagons in 00 standard guage.
