November's meeting was by invitation to Chris Boyd's house near Swadlincote, to see his model railway layout in his garage. This is a 4mm scale layout with an 00 gauge double tracked LNER themed oval round the outside with a scenic circular circuit 009 layout and a branch line nestling inside the 00 part. it has been featured in the past in the Railway Modeller as the Denebridge and Holywell Railway. The 00 part is Denebridge and the 009 part Holywell. Chris had an interesting mix of kits and r-t-r locos and stock on the 009 part, which we all enjoyed seeing running. (Chris remarked on how much more pulling power the older 009 kit locos have compared to the newer r-t-r locos when operating up the gradient on the layout!) The photos below convey the scope of his layout. Thanks to Chris and Margaret for the wonderful spread of supper treats they laid on!
An overall view of much of the layout, showing the way the narrow gauge nestles below the standard gauge.
A closer study of Holywell station, the terminus of the 009 branch line.
Denebridge (Riverside) Station on the 009 part of the layout, with his kit built Double Fairlie in the station platform.
Another wider view of the layout, showing how Denebridge (Riverside) Station fits into the overall layout.
Holywell station, in context, with the standard gauge line above and a ruined church on the skyline.

And the last shot is of a group of reprobates outside the pub beside Holywell Sation (the castings of which Chris found in Spain, of all places!).
