The holidays are over and a good crowd came to the meeting of the 27th September at the Portkland College Cafe. Again, Ed and Melanie set up their stand for Models for Heroes (a charity enabling ex-servicemen to use modelling as a part of their recovery from injury) and made another £40! Thanks to all the people who donated items, including a special thanks to Micheal.
Several members showed off their latest models. See the report below for more info.
Mel and Ed's stall in support of the charity Models for Heroes, including Eds latest micro layout "Llandaftandsilly", super pumped up test track set in spring. See the photo below in more detail. It featured an amusing twin railcar set by DoubleMModels based on some London Underground coaches on a Kato 109 chassis.
Ed also brought along several other of his models, including this pair of Garrats - the one in red is a K1 by Sir James Bain on 2x Koppel 2A chassis, and below that is a tramway Garratt (a special commission from DoubleMModels) on Kato 109 chassies. He also showed off a French Crochat AT1 railcar from 3D Factory on the same Kato 109 chassis.
David had this Thomas tram engine printed by his son Ian on a Kato Chassis and a couple of wagons picked up from an earlier meeting.
David also had this Eddie King print of a DMU on Kato chassis.
Ian has made this self printed 1/72 scale Duetz 0MZ 122F deisel loco on a 9mm ARU cassis - to match other similar scale items for his new layout.
Charlie showed this Chivers kit of a Queensland Rly cape gauge Diesel, of which several have been preserved and re-gauged to 2ft 6ins on thePuffing Billy Railway.
Charlie has aquired his first Paul Windle loco, which he has renamed “Loch Cragggie”.
Alan displayed his new "Knottmuch Works" fun layout - he says it might be a preserved depot! The blue loco is an old 3d print loco on a Kato 109. The yellow Ic loco is a 2nd hand model on a Tomix chasis. There is also a Kerr Stuart ic loco from AI models using another Kato chassis. Can you see the photographer in an “End is Nigh"pose?
Note that the working traverser has a homemade meccano hand control.
