About 25 of us gathered for the February 22nd meeting at Portland College Cafe, with plenty of modelling to see, and copy of the new publication "The Far Tottering and Oyster Creek Railway" by Graham Bessant did the rounds. The shadow committee had a brief conflab to plan the "inaugural Meeting" to adopt the draft constitution as part of the March Meeting - for more details see here. Below are some photos of some of the modelling we saw today.
Charlie found this Blackstone Models HOn3 model damaged in a second hand box and restored to 009.
Plus these are a sample of 3 of a total of 14 TB (Shapeways) 3D print coaches which again Charlie obtained second hand - apparently for a song!
And this is Chrlie's 3D print of a propelled snow plough.
Kevin brought along his 09 3D printed engine shed and water tower ensemble plus a Bachman Quarry Hunslet, with a model crew member resting on the footplate that is not a representation of himself - “Too handsome” he says!
Dave brought along another curiosity he has modelled. This time it is the McKinley Cruiser, originally a tramway representation of a warship made for the American presidential campaign of 1896, and then stuck on stilts in Whalom Lake, Fitchburg, Massachusetts, till it fell apart. Very odd!
Here is Hugh, with another live modelling demonstration, this time making coping stones for his quayside layout Bardsea Quay.
Mark showed his little shelf layout work in progress (quite a few years in progress) called Cement Museum. It is based on a Chris Kupra original design for a shunting puzzle layout. Mark is aiming for an Amberly type feel. He has started refurbishing the layout after it suffered a major accident. More details on our Facebook Group “Narrow Gauge Now”.
Alan displayed a printed double bonnet diesel on a Kato bobo chassis and a Peco white metal kit Glyn Valley Tramway loco on a Kato tram chassis plus several other IC engines. He also showed a heavily adapted Airfix (or Dipole) engine shed. All are available for purchase if anyone is interested.
