The last meeting before our show - Narrow Gauge Now - on the 26th October - click here for more details! Several of us were preoccupied with checking the rooms and ensuring we have thought of everything. But modelling still continues with the photos shown below, with Mark bringing along his scenic test track with an invigorated hand painted backscene, and Hugh giving us a masterclass in simple but effective modelling, live in the cafe!
Mark brought along his scenic test track with a revitalised hand painted backscene. He says it is still unfinished, but we thought it good as it is!
Ian showed us a few of his completed 009 Soc kits coupled to a rather nice printed Ruston 50DR diesel loco (from 3d factory on EBay).
Ian also showed off his repainted shortened Funky diesel from Porterhouse Models on a Kato chassis, along with three of their coaches now outshopped in teak livery (one converted to a brake). Nice liveries! You can see the models in their original colours in the July 2024 meeting page.
Andy put his still unfinished Roxy mouldings Hampton loco kit through its paces on Marks test track.
David Jones displayed his completed Boar War armoured train, based on photos and drawings from the period in OO scale. There is a Collett loco under the armour!
Hugh treated us to a display of his modeliing skills, live in the cafe. He is shown here working in plasticard on a part completed rickety boathouse for his new layout (to be featured in our upcoming show Narrow Gauge Now!)
This is a profile of Hugh's rickety boathouse showing the uneven elements copied studiously from a photo he found on the internet (an open commons image).
And this is one end of the boathouse with the doors hung unevenly, as in the prototype photo. We were all very impressed with his modelling skills demonstration.
This is Hugh's wonderful model based on an internet (open commons) sourced photo of a railway footbridge. Scratch built, incorportating some Ratio railings and Peco girder bridge elements, plus Wills sheet stonework.
