The September meeting was the judging day for the Members Competition. Five entries made it to the finishing line and were demonstrated working for Alan to judge - see the photos below. But the winner will not be announced till after our Narrow Gauge NOW show opens on October 31st! Which one do you think has won it?
We also had a good showing of other models from members, including a lovely static model of the Listowell and Ballybunion monorail, which is included in the other photos below.
Ed and Mel have been working hard suppirting Models for Heroes and have niw raised over £2,000 in total for the charity. Part of this was from over £400 raised at the Syston Model Railway Show recently (see a few phots at the end of this page) and they have plans to attend more, with their characterful small layouts to catch the eye. They say that this is a great credit to our members who contributed items as a lot of the money raised is attributed to them.
We are now in the final runup to our show - have you confirmed with Charlie that you can volunteer to help for the day? You can contact Charlie on charlie4472@hotmail.com
Also we have identified that there are less portable tables available this year due to changes in room use at Portland College. Can you help with a sturdy table for the day? (It must be portable, robust and of a good size - a paste table would not be suitable.) Please contact Andrew on andrewmott575@gmail.com. Thanks.

Mel entered her narrow gauge railway take on Oscar and the Baloon Factory, with a steampunk vibe and pink ballast!
This is Hugh's railway-in-a-box entry based on the Hill Street Double Lift Bridge, but in narrow gauge. And the bridge works!
This is Mark D's chalk pits inspired layout, in narrow gauge.
And finally, this is Roger S's entry, a rotating Christmas Pizza layout in 009 that he promised his wife a few years ago and finally completed for the competition.
Dave brought along this static diorama showing the Listowell and Ballybunion monorail in 4mm scale. He would welcome any advice on how he might motorise it.

Bradley has refurbished this Egger steam railcar.
This set of 009 wagons is right on the moment, with Count Binface and Nigel Farage included! Andrew G put it together.
Members often bring along a selection of their books for other members to browse and occasionally borrow.
The Models for Heroes stand at the recent Syston Model Railway Show, run by Ed and Mel, that raised so much more funds for the charity!
And here is one of Mel and Ed's lovely little layouts in 009 that so draw one in! This one is a snow scene called "Twas Just a Winters Tale".
And here is their banner for the charity.
